How to Connect Your Hostinger Domain to Cloudflare

How to Connect Your Hostinger Domain to Cloudflare

If you want a faster, more secure website, connecting your Hostinger domain to Cloudflare is one of the easiest upgrades you can make. Cloudflare adds CDN speed, better DNS performance, and strong protection against attacks. The good news is that setting it up with Hostinger takes only a few minutes.

Here’s a simple walkthrough that anyone can follow.

Step 1: Create or Log In to Your Cloudflare Account

  1. Go to cloudflare.com and click Sign Up.
  2. Create an account or log in if you already have one.
  3. Once inside the dashboard, choose Add a Site.

You’ll be asked to enter your domain name. Type your full domain (example: yourdomain.com) and continue.

Step 2: Pick a Cloudflare Plan

Cloudflare will show you several plan options.
You can pick the Free plan if you’re just starting out. It already includes CDN, DDoS protection, and fast DNS.

Click Continue.

Step 3: Cloudflare Will Scan Your DNS Records

Cloudflare scans your existing DNS records from Hostinger.
After a few seconds, you’ll see a list of DNS entries like:

  • A records
  • CNAMEs
  • MX records (email)

Make sure the important records are there, especially:

  • A record pointing to your hosting server
  • MX records if you use email services

If something is missing, you can add it manually.

Click Continue when everything looks correct.

Step 4: Update Your Hostinger Nameservers

Now Cloudflare will show you two new nameservers. They look something like:

  • alex.ns.cloudflare.com
  • rita.ns.cloudflare.com

Copy both of them.

Next, go to your Hostinger control panel (hPanel).

  1. Open hPanel.
  2. Go to Domains.
  3. Select your domain and open DNS/Nameservers.
  4. Choose “Change Nameservers.”
  5. Replace the current Hostinger nameservers with the two Cloudflare nameservers.
  6. Save the changes.

That’s it for the Hostinger part.

Step 5: Wait for Cloudflare to Activate Your Domain

Nameserver changes don’t activate instantly.
It usually takes 5 minutes to a few hours, depending on DNS propagation.

You can check the status inside your Cloudflare dashboard. When Cloudflare detects the nameserver change, you’ll see a confirmation message saying your domain is active.

Step 6: Verify DNS and SSL Settings

Once active, make sure your domain works correctly:

1. DNS Records

Check that the DNS records Cloudflare shows match what you had in Hostinger.

2. SSL/TLS Mode

Go to SSL/TLS in Cloudflare.
Set the mode to Full or Full (strict) if your hosting supports it.

3. Speed and Security Settings

Cloudflare has helpful features like:

  • Auto Minify
  • Brotli compression
  • Bot protection
  • Caching rules

Most users can leave the defaults on.

You’re All Set

Your Hostinger domain is now connected to Cloudflare.
Your site should load faster and be better protected right away. You can also monitor traffic, block threats, and tweak performance settings directly from the Cloudflare dashboard.
